Genesis of Sudhangshubala Foundation
Lt. Sudhangshubala Majumder
Sudhangshubala Foundation is a registered Charitable Trust founded on 18th of June 2013, by Shri Bhabesh Majumder with its operatinal centre at Krishnagar in the district of Nadia, West Bengal, and its Registered office at Kolkata.
One of the earliest endeavours of the Foundation has been in organizing widely attended and successful blood donation camps in the State capitals of Assam, Bihar and West Bengal, as well as, more recently in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Foundation encompasses community-benefiting activity in the public health and public works domain (drinking water facility by hand pump installation, organizing periodic free health check-up camps) as well. It also takes initiative in offering value added infrastructural support to sub-optimally furnished schools (drinking water and sanitation support, providing bicycles to girl children) and even addressing self-supportive capabilities by providing revenue generating capital equipment to women-folk as part of a Women’s Empowerment initiative. At the district-rural level the Foundation also donates orthopaedic appliances to physically disabled persons on identification by NIOH (National Institute for the Orthopaedically Handicapped).
Commemorating Netaji’s 119th birthday on 23rd January 2016, at Port Blair, the Foundation set up its second operational centre, committed to serve all inhabitants across Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Heralding the mission of training the underprivileged rural youth segment – deprived yet capable, with relevant and employable vocational skills – Sudhangshubala Foundation and Siemens Group are in a synergic tie-up, wherein the Foundation has adapted this unique model of actualizing this initiative through the setting up of technical centres of development at Siliguri, Kolkata, Ghaziabad and Dehradun.
Vision
The Foundation has been sharing a vision to upgrade knowledge-based skills of students (often dropouts on account of financial hardship) from economically challenged families, provide full financial assistance to the underprivileged and meritorious pupils in their pursuit for higher studies (medical, engineering etc).
Mission
The primary mission of the Foundation is to extend a gamut of supportive and sustainable services to the underprivileged; helping them to aspire for and accomplish better economic standards, academic goals and employment opportunities.
